Hip resurfacing and hip replacement spoken here. Surfacehippy (Surface Hippy) is the original, largest and most active hip resurfacing patient support group. Hip resurfacing is an alternative to total hip replacement surgery for young and active patients suffering from debilitating hip pain due to arthritis, trauma, avascular necrosis (AVN), hip dysplasia (DDH), Perthes disease, or femoroacetabular impingement (FAI). Discussion includes specific devices such as Wright and Microport Conserve Plus, Birmingham Hip (BHR), Corin Comet, ReCap, Depuy ASR, surgeons and hospitals offering hip resurfacing. Not everyone is a candidate for resurfacing, so total hip replacement is also discussed. Anyone who has had hip surgery or is interested in learning about about hip surgery options, revisions and alternatives to hip surgery is welcome to participate with other surfacehippies.
